Transit Supports Legislative Session: Ride the Legislative Shuttle for Free - The free legislative shuttle is also available for citizens to utilize. 

Intercity Transit, the area's public transportation agency, provides transit service to and from the Capitol Camp us during this Legislative session and many state offices in the region.  Park and ride lots and carpool matching services are also available year round.

One service in particular is expected to help relieve the limited parking available on the Capitol Campus.  The Legislative Shuttle will operate weekdays throughout the Legislative session, beginning January 10.  The service will not require rider fares because it is funded by the Senate and the House of Representatives.  

The shuttle will operate 7:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. between the visitor parking lot on Wheeler Avenue and the Capitol Campus by way of 11th Avenue and Maple Park  

Additionally, direct shuttle service operates between the Lacey Transit Center ( 6th Avenue and Golf Club Place in Lacey) and Capitol Campus on Intercity Transit's Route 50.  This service operates weekdays during peak travel times only.  

Three other local routes operate on Capitol Way traveling past the Capitol Campus.  Routes 12, 13, and 15 together provide service every 15 minutes and serve several state offices, including Labor and Industries and Point Plaza .  All three routes serve the Olympia Transit Center where passengers can connect with transit service to other destinations.   

Parking is available on the West side of Capitol Lake along Deschutes Parkway .  Intercity Transit b us es serve this area every 15 minutes on weekdays, making connections at the Olympia Transit Center for service to the Capitol Camp us and destinations in Tumwater, Lacey, West Olympia and Yelm.  

Express Service routes to and from Tacoma with connections to Seattle operate seven days a week.  Three express routes travel past the Capitol Campus.   

The Star Pass program enables DSHS staff unlimited transit use and require no payment at the farebox.  Interested commuters can get more information about the State Agency Rider (STAR) pass program at www.ga.wa.gov/ctr/starpass.html . Stop by your CTR floor Representative if you need a Star Pass.  

Carpool matching is another service Intercity Transit provides to people interested in sharing their commutes.  Intercity Transit staff can match commuters according to their schedules and travel needs.  Or commuters can find a rideshare partner on their own by visiting www.RideshareOnline.comCommuters can also call the Rideshare Hotline at 1-888-814-1300.   

Park and ride lots served by Intercity Transit buses include Martin Way off I-5, in Tumwater at Terminal Street and Tumwater Boulevard , and at the Amtrak Centennial Station on Yelm Highway Park and pool lots where commuters can meet their carpools or vanpools are available in Grand Mound off I-5, Mud Bay off Highway 101, at Tumwater Boulevard , and Summit Lake off SR 8.  

Intercity Transit's Transit Guide provides information about Intercity Transit's 22 bus routes and other commuter services.  Guides are available at local Timberland Libraries, most area Safeway stores, at the Capitol Campus Visitor Information Center , and at most large employment sites.
