New TechnologiesTechnological advances in hearing aids and assistive listening devices have been occurring at a relatively rapid pace in recent years. For people who have a hearing loss, it is important to keep abreast of theses changes. Information on new technologies is available to you through a number of sources. At many of our monthly local chapter meetings around the State, we make announcements regarding new developments. To locate a local chapter near you, click here. Our State newsletter each quarter also has one or more articles on assistive listening devices, and provides you with a user's perspective. To read the most recent issue, click here. A good resource for learning about what is available is the Hearing, Speech and Deafness Center in Seattle. HSDC stocks a large number of devices from pocket talkers to telephones to vibrating alarm clocks. You can try before you buy. They have three locations in the Seattle/Tacoma area.
